Oh the places you can ride, right out your back door -- when you are lucky enough to have a 1987 Suburban that can drive you and seven friends home from Virginia after you ride your bike there. And when you need to take a day off from loaded touring, what do you do? Go mountain biking, of course! Four friends and I were lucky enough to tour across the great state of West Virginia last week, taking in all of the sights from the seat of a bicycle. Our destination was the Shenandoah Mountain Bike Festival in Stokesville, Va., with a layover at a beautiful primitive cabin at Spruce Knob, W.V. We enticed some friends to deliver provisions to the backcountry (and drive us home at the end of the week) by hanging out the carrot of big mountain bike rides. Everyone agreed that the riding was as good as it gets. Enjoy photos on Athens Bicycle's flickr page, and also on tour companion Mike Boyes' picasa page.
